The Finish Line

It was a cool morning as we headed into Florida, the state where our Great Loop voyage began.

Our first stop was Pensacola Shipyard for repairs to broken engine mounts (sigh!).

While stranded there we took in the sights of the town which included many cleverly painted pelicans.

Midday was warm enough to enjoy the beach, a real treat for a Jersey Girl in December!

Also entertaining were the Pensacola Beach holiday boat parade, fireworks and live music on the boardwalk.

Warm weather and many beautiful sunsets eased us into a Florida state of mind!

When the boat was finally ready for travel we moved on to Panama City for a calm night and foggy morning.

“The Plan” for the day was to cruise about 100 miles to Carabelle, but conditions were good so we decided to continue another 75 miles to Steinhatchee. We hit a thick fog bank near the end of the trip, but luckily it cleared enough that we were able to find the Sea Hag Marina, our stop for the night. We were up at sunrise to again head south.

As we reached Clearwater Beach the skies were blue and the harbor very busy with all sorts of water vehicles.

The next morning we continued south to the lovely Sarasota Harbor. Along the way we passed St. Petersburg, the place where we had purchased our boat and started this madness – I mean, magnificent experience!

Approximately 5,800 miles, 98 stops, 17 states, countless sights, adventures and amazing people, all in one Great Loop! On December 12, 2021, Nice Goin’ crossed its wake. Kathy and Kenton thank everyone who encouraged us both from home and along the way on this fantastic voyage. May our paths continue to cross!
