Salzburg and Innsbruck

Austria is amazingly beautiful. We were fortunate to stay a few days in both Salzburg and Innsbruck.

In Salzburg, we explored the Mirabell Palace and its beautiful gardens. We even danced and sang around the fountain, as this is where “Do-Re-Mi” was filmed for the Sound of Music. Well, Kenton didn’t dance, but he hummed along.

We admired the Doppler house on one side of town, and then crossed the beautiful Salzach River to find Mozart’s house on the other.

The Linke Altstadt (Old Town) had stunning architecture and busy, lively streets.

Kenton checked out local real estate, as he often does, and he located the smallest house in Old Town!

All kinds of art and music filled the streets.

And delicious food filled our bellies!

Our favorite event was an organ concert in the Salzburg Cathedral. The organist was amazing, as she played classical music on four of the five organs housed in the cathedral. She was accompanied on some of the songs by two young and talented violinists. It was very moving and very memorable!

It was cloudy and rainy as we drove through the Alps to Innsbruck. I greeted our doorman and we checked into an adorable apartment in the middle of town.

Even in the rain, the town of Innsbruck is stunning.

The mountains continued to hide, but we enjoyed walking the town, seeing the sights,

and visiting the parks.

There were beautiful and interesting signs over most of the shops.

And absolutely everyone wore backpacks. Look at that lucky dog!

Innsbruck was amazing and we have promised each other that we will return one day when the skies are clear and we can explore more of the mountains. Next, we head to Liechtenstein!
