Lockin’ and Rollin’

At Mohawk Harbor, we had the good fortune to run into (figuratively!) other boats we’d met earlier, including Tiama, a beautiful Selene and her friendly captain and crew. So for this post, I actually have photos taken of our boat as we traveled, courtesy of the Tiama crew!

While each boat traveled at its own speed, we met up when stopping at the locks along the way.

In our travels we would occasionally pass a sailboat that looked disorganized, but really had just taken down its mast (called ‘stepping the mast’) to fit through the locks.

It was a busy but great trip. Debris was always a concern, though we could see that attempts had been made to clear the water.

Around every corner we saw beautiful views, mountains and of course, more locks!

Well that’s unfortunate.

But quickly forgotten as we saw more interesting sights, pretty scenery and oh yes, more locks!

Our journey eventually ended for the day in Little Falls.

And we arrived on the night of the car show! (Do you see that beautiful boat docked behind the cars?)

The Tiama crew treated us to a fun dinner, and the next day we continued our voyage. The word for the day was “gorgeous.”

Until we encountered many logs, stumps and other debris in the water. Then the word was “minefield.”

Careful cruising got us safely to the wall at Oneida Lake. Here we said goodbye (for now) to Tiama and her crew who continued to cross the lake and stay the night on the other side. Thanks for the delightful company and great photos!
