We made a few stops along Lake Erie as we headed southwest toward Cleveland.
“The lake was angry that day, my friends.”
When the water is rough, we try to secure things on the boat. If we don’t, they find their way to the floor during the trip. By the end of the day we had four broken wine glasses, and a new seatbelt for the cooler!
Our first stop was Wolverine Park. We had a great dinner at Oliver’s where an open wall gave us a stunning view of Port Erie.
The next day was also a splashy trip.
We stopped at Geneva on the Lake. Although there were many boats in the marina,
we didn’t see many people in the town
or along the lake. We realized that we weren’t just ‘Late Loopers’. We were the very ‘Last Loopers’!
Next day we cruised on to Cleveland and docked next to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
We spent hours exploring the exhibits. “Cleveland rocks!”
Then we walked into the city for drinks, snacks and more sightseeing.
Our next stop was Put In Bay. It was a great island to explore by golf cart.
We chose to sit at the bar in a fun restaurant for dinner and ended up making friends with half the bar!
Next day we turned North and the waves bounced us up the Detroit River, where the anchor on our bow actually did dip briefly under water (yikes!) as we rode in on the rollers.
Gordie Howe Bridge under construction
But then the river calmed as we traveled the line between USA and Canada.
Finally, we reached Detroit and had a fun visit with Steve and Emma!
We are hoping as we continue north that Lake Huron is in a good mood!
