Dear Key West,

It’s not you, It’s me.

You’re wonderful. From the moment we first met, I knew you were unique and special; sometimes crazy and exciting, sometimes quiet and serene, and always beautiful in your own, quirky way.

We’ve spent lovely, quiet mornings and delightfully fun nights together. I’ll remember every bike ride, kayak trip, bar hop and sunset we shared.

But now, my dear, I need to move on. You knew from the start that I was only here for the winter – and now it is spring.

I can’t help how I feel. I need to travel and explore. There are other places I haven’t experienced and I just know that I need to go.

Please don’t be sad. I’ll think fondly of you, and who knows? Maybe one day we’ll see each other again.

Until then, please remember that you have my genuine affection and gratitude for the time we spent together.

Key West, you’ll always hold a special place in my heart.
