A Tale of Two Beauforts

It was the best of times… That’s it. Just the best of times in two towns with the same name! In Beaufort, South Carolina, the name is pronounced “BYOO-fert,” (like ‘beautiful’). As we left Georgia, we saw shrimpers, dredges and we passed the remains of the car carrier that had capsized off St. Simons. We moved aside for a cargo ship that literally filled the channel, and passed by the iconic Harbour Town lighthouse on Hilton Head island.
