Zurich

We drove through the scenic Alps on our way to Zurich, Switzerland.

Our path led us into small towns, along farmlands, through tunnels and past waterfalls.

By the time we reached our hotel, the sun had come out. We checked into our room and then headed out to a nearby cafe for refreshments.

Old Town Zurich was absolutely beautiful.

We walked the bridges over the Limmat River to explore more of the area.

And we were amazed to see the snow-capped Swiss Alps in the distance.

I couldn’t stop taking photos along the riverfront as the sun went down. It was such a lovely evening!

Our second day we wandered further. The Fraumunster Church was beautiful, with its dreamy stained glass windows, designed by Marc Chagall.

We followed a steep path up to the Lindenhof plaza and enjoyed the views over the city.

The streets of Lindenhof were intriguing and often whimsical, and we wandered for hours each day.

When we got hungry, we found charming cafes and amazing restaurants.

We ate delicious meals and were introduced to Appenzeller: an herbal liquor used as an after-dinner digestif. It was strong!!

A day of window-shopping took a turn when we came upon a music store. Then we uke-shopped! (Her name is Kai.)

Our last evening we stayed out late, hating to see our Europe Aventure come to an end.

A quick flight to Paris was followed the next day by a flight home to the USA. We were travel-weary, but so very grateful for the experiences we’d had and the memories we had made!
